ABOUT US
Florida Film & Video is a full-service film,
video and multimedia company managing the production process from script to screen. Incorporated in 1984, our clientele
have included advertising agencies, independent producers, Hollywood studios, and corporations throughout the world shooting,
producing and directing.
In April of 2003 we became one of the
first Florida companies to offer high definition production and post utilizing the Panasonic DVCPro Varicam HD 720p
system. In 2007 FFV added the Panasonic HPX-3000 P-2 1080p camera system and the versatile tape based Panasonic HDX -900
to its High Def packages. The HVX 3000 utilizes up to five 16 or 32 gig P-2 cards for tapeless HD acquistion.
The portable HVX-200 can be offered with a custom underwater housing, color on board monitor, and dual DC powered HMI
lighting.
FFV offers a versatile and elegant solution
for inputting P-2 media into your post production workflow. As part of our HPX-3000 package FFV provides the new Panasonic
P-2 Mobile (AJ-HPM110). This useful device, which operates ac/dc, allows the user to view P-2 cards and easily download
the files to their own portable harddrive. In addition, the P-2 Mobile can be used with the traditional Varicam workflow
to record in the AVC-Intra mode and offers immediate playback of variable frame rate material recorded by the Varicam.
Director/DP Bill Mills recently used the
3000 system for a NOVA documentary that required a “PAL/50 hz” based recording. The camera is capable of
shooting standard definition, HD (DVCPro or AVC Intra/NTSC or PAL).
In the summer of 2006 Mills spent several weeks in Ecuador and Mexico shooting the History
Channel 2 hour documentary, PEYOTE TO LSD: A PSYCHEDELIC ODYSSEY, with Director Peter Von Puttkamer (GRYPHON PRODUCTIONS)
and host Dr. Wade Davis. Using the Panasonic Varicam and HVX-200 P-2 system the crew lived with the Cofan Indians along
the Amazon while shooting re-creations and sequences for the show. The program was first broadcast in April 2008 and
has since garnered numerous awards.
Our south-central Tampa Bay, Florida location allows for exceptional shooting sites
year round as well as an international travel base for field production.

DP Bill Mills and Director Gail Willumson on location in Luxor,
Egypt for NOVA. The High Def program was shot entirely with the 24p Panasonic Varicam.
Its national PBS release on January 3, 2006 was well received,
as noted by The New York Times ("A Leader as Notable in Death as He Was Powerful in Life") by Ned Martel, who wrote: "The
"Nova" treatment never seems as macabre or indiscreet as that mystifyingly popular "Bodies" exhibition of posed human specimens.
And the producers know just how to pretty up the arcana. As the narrator reads from ancient Egyptian forecasts of what the
afterlife would look like, the pharaoh's actual travels seem fitting for a great leader, whose adventures in death have been
nearly as interesting as his conquests in life."
